Getting it off the ground and then running without a hitch will take a lot of planning, but it is not as hard as you think.

In this article, I will go over how to plan a successful golf tournament that will put your business on the map.

Have the logos ready

All of the marketing materials should be ready to go. The website and social media should all have the same slogans, logos and even colors so it is immediately recognizable.

Then, clothing should be made with the same look. Have plenty of customizable hats and shirts that should not only be worn for the tournament, but before as you try to get the word out.

Create a committee

Putting a tournament of any size, large or small, is a full time job for one person. Putting together a committee will spread out the work.

Have each member of the committee focus on an aspect of the planning according to their talents. People that are good at communicating and have a large base of contacts can handle the public relations and getting the word out.

Others that are good at logistics can handle the operations of making sure the tournament has all the materials it needs.

These are just a couple of examples, but essentially there is a person that is the ideal candidate for each phase of the planning and should be used accordingly.

Find sponsors

Even with a team of volunteers working to organize this event, it is going to cost a lot of money. From advertising to the cost of the course, there is going to be a lot of outgoing money.

To trim the expenses a bit, find some sponsors that will provide some free products or services.

Beverage companies are a logical choice as people will be drinking plenty of water, soda and other beverages. Other types of businesses may want to offer up a product as a prize for winning the tournament.

Choose the format

There is no one way to play the tournament and the format should be determined by the golfers’ ability.

There is the Shotgun that has all players teeing up from each hole at the same time so they can play simultaneously. This is a good format for players who have experience so the game doesn’t slow down.

If there are a lot of inexperienced players then the Best Ball format is best. In this scenario, all the players will pick up there ball and play from the spot where the best shot landed. This might not be much fun for a scratch golfer, but it will keep the play moving.
