The Best Tools and Websites for Your Small Business

 Small Business

If you’re running a small business, you should make use of anything which saves time and is either free or low-cost and can help you keep costs down, make the most productive use of your time and improve your business. Here are some of the tools and websites which can do this.

If you miss an important call, it can cause problems for you and your business. Instead of wondering who called me, you can use UnknownPhone. This saves you the time and stress of trying to work out if that missed number was the important call you were expecting and then calling back, only to find it was a cold caller or scammer. It’s also easy to use, and free. You can either call the person back if it’s important or block the number of a cold caller and get on with more important tasks.

If you’re a small business owner, only need to speak to one or a few people at a time, and never make long video calls, Zoom is a great free platform. As part of the free package, you can record the audio and video during meetings, share your screen for presentations and create a professional background. For features such as live streaming to social media, longer meetings and high numbers of attendees, you will need to pay for membership.

Google Drive

Google Drive is a great resource for working with others on your business projects. You can choose who has access to each file, and in what capacity (to view only or be able to edit). You also get up to 15GB of space as part of the free package but will have to pay for Google One if you need more storage. Thankfully, this isn’t too expensive, and if your projects need more storage space, it’s likely you’re doing well and are bringing in more money from these.

To be able to keep up with appointments and meetings in your small business, you might consider investing in Calendly. This allows you to give people the option of times and dates to schedule meetings with you, based on the times you’re available. This can save you or your staff time on emails and calls, and checking your schedule to set up meetings. There’s a free option, then paid monthly plans depending on what you need. Again, it’s affordable.

If you need to create graphics for social media, banners or images to accompany your content, but don’t have the budget for a graphic designer, Canva can be helpful for your business. Using your own images or those you have the right to use, you can use their templates and create professional-looking graphics to help make your business stand out. There are free and paid options available, and it’s much cheaper than paying someone. Although, it might be worth getting someone with a good eye for detail to look over your designs before you use them.

Running a business can be expensive, so anything which helps with productivity and costs is worth trying. This gives you more time and money to focus on other parts of your business.
