Turn plain text into spooky, haunted, glitchy lettering you can paste anywhere. Type below, pick a style, and copy it. It works in Instagram bios, TikTok captions, Discord names, gamer tags and Halloween posts, with no app or sign-up needed.
What is a creepy text generator?
A creepy text generator converts normal letters into unsettling lookalikes: gothic lettering, glitchy strike-throughs, skulls and bats between letters, or Zalgo text where marks pile up above and below each character. The result is ordinary text, not an image or a font file, so you can copy it and paste it into almost any app.
How does the creepy text generator work?
Every character on your screen has a Unicode code, and Unicode includes thousands of decorative alphabets and symbols. The generator uses three techniques, all running in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server.
- Alternate alphabets: each letter is swapped for a lookalike from another Unicode block, such as gothic bold, script, double-struck, circled or fullwidth letters.
- Combining marks: invisible-width characters are added after each letter to draw a strike, slash, underline, circle or the stacked marks of Zalgo text. The chaos slider controls how many are added.
- Symbol wrappers: skulls, bats, webs, moons and blood drops are placed around or between letters.
How to use it
- Type or paste your text in the box.
- Choose a category, or scroll through all the styles. Raise the chaos level for messier Zalgo and Static results.
- Click Copy on a card, or click the card itself.
- Paste it into your bio, caption, username, chat or document.
Where you can use creepy text
- Instagram, TikTok, X and Facebook bios and captions
- Discord nicknames, server names and channel topics
- Gamer tags and clan names, where the platform allows Unicode
- Halloween posters, party invites, horror stories and creepypasta titles
- YouTube video titles and descriptions
Compatibility and accessibility tips
Because these characters come from many Unicode blocks, some older devices or fonts may show empty boxes instead of a few symbols. Test your text on your target platform before publishing. Screen readers often read stylized characters letter by letter or skip them, so keep important information such as links, prices or instructions in plain text. Some sites also limit special characters in usernames.
Frequently asked questions
Is the creepy text generator free?
Yes. It is free, needs no account, and has no limit on how much text you convert.
Is creepy text the same as Zalgo text?
Zalgo is one kind of creepy text. It stacks combining marks above and below letters so they look corrupted. Creepy text also covers gothic alphabets, symbol wrappers and glitch effects.
Why does my creepy text show boxes on some devices?
The device’s font does not include that Unicode character. Try another style from the Fonts or Glitch categories, which are supported on most phones and computers.
Can I use creepy text in Instagram or TikTok?
Yes. Both apps accept Unicode text in bios and captions. Heavy Zalgo can be clipped or overlap neighbouring lines, so use a lower chaos level for readability.
Does the generator store what I type?
No. The conversion happens in your browser and your text is never uploaded or saved.
